Lake Winfield Scott is a small lake (it'd be called a pond in many places) located in the Winfield Scott Recreational Area. The Lake Winfield Scott and the recreational area are owned and operated by the US Forest Service.

We decided to paddle here because it was close to where we were staying and closed to some of the places we wanted to explore after our paddle. The lake is a beautiful mountain lake and is small. We paddled around the lake several times during our visit. It was a good place to get the kinks out after the long drive. Plus it was the first chance we had to paddle in several months.

We were a bit early for the fall colors on this trip. I suspect that the hardwoods around the lake would be provide a great show at peak color.

There is a campground in the Winfield Scott Recreational Area. The campground is a typical forest service campground with restrooms and showers but no hookups for RVs.
