Beautiful Feast for the Eyes

We spent a few days driving the Skyline Drive in Virginia this November 2021. When we got on the Skyline Drive, the colors from the trees on each side of the road was so wonderful that my wife said This is a beautiful feast for the eyes. The trees along the road provided a wall of color on both sides of the road. It is easy to see why the road if packed on weekend with people admiring the colors. We were lucky to be visiting during the week with only a few other visitors.

The forest along the road was full of bright yellow interspaced with some red and green. The sun shining on the trees highlighted the colors so that it was almost too bright to look at. When we stopped to admire the forest we faced a constant blast of color from the closely spaced trees. More beauty that we could take in at one glance.

Hikes off the road were essential if we wanted to get a closer look at the individual trees.

View of the Shenandoah Valley were beautiful. The clusters of color from the trees mixed with the bright greens of the fields highlighted by the white from the houses.
