Goat Haunt is one of the most remote places in Glacier National Park. It can be reached from Waterton Lakes National Park, in Alberta Canada. The easiest way to reach Goat Haunt is by boat from Waterton Townsite. You can also hike from Waterton to Goat Haunt. The boat trip from Waterton Townsite to Goat Haunt is enjoyable and provides great scenic view. Plus there is always the chance to see bald eagles, as we did.

Because you are entering the US from Canada, you need ID if you want to explore Goat Haunt. Only US and Canadian citizens are allowed to explore the area. If you don't have ID or are not a US or Canadian citizen, you can take the short 1/4 mile hike from the boat dock to the ranger station, but may not travel further south in Glacier National Park.

There are several hikes for those wanting to explore Goat Haunt. All hikes require more than the ½ hour stopover included in each cruise, thus hikers will be required to catch a later boat back to Waterton townsite. The boat schedule and the times that the port of entry are constraints that must be considered when planning your hikes. We were able to take the hike to Rainbow Falls with the time we had. Check Waterton Cruise for more information.

The hike to Rainbow Falls is easy. In our September 2013 trip we had the place to ourselves. The hike is two miles roundtrip. We took our time and had lunch at the falls. A really nice trip.
