Sunset at Arches National Park
We visited the main part of Arches National Park in the late afternoon. While we were in the visitor center, a thunderstorm rolled into the area. We rushed out to see rain in the desert. There were waterfalls, low clouds, and rainbows. Something we had not expected to see.
We rushed out of the visitor center to enjoy the rain and watch the storm. Then we got into our car and chased the rain and light through Arches National Park.
We had a great time. Seeing water puddles, rainbows, wet red sandstone, and the amazing sunset. We saw single and double rainbows. The pot of gold was the amazing scenary and the sunset.
It would have been great if the light and storm had stayed around long enough for us to tour the whole park and hike to all the various landmarks. Unfortunately, the show was over much too soon for that.
When it was obvious that we couldn't expect the light to last much longer, we stopped the car and hike to the Windows Arches. We explored this region until the sun set. Then we got back into the car and headed back to Moab.
We consider ourselves lucky to have had the chance to observe Arches in the rain.
The sunset was magnificant. The colors in the sky and on the rock formations in Arches National Park were amazing. The clearing storm provided an interesting sky and lighting. It was hard to resist taking more photos than we did.
