A few years ago we were treated to a couple of nights at the Lodge on Lake Lure, North Carolina. The lodge is a really nice place to spent some quiet time. The grounds are well kept and the rooms are very comfortable.

Lake Lure is a beautiful lake in the North Carolina Mountains. Much of the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed here.
The lake is heavily developed with a mix of private homes and condos. The neat thing is that many of the private homes look like they belong to people who have owned them well before the sky rocking prices of the past few years. And before the trend that mountain homes should be at least 5,000 square feet.
Lake Lure in the Fog
The weather during our stay was not the greatest. Lots of low clouds and some light rain. But the rain wasn't too bad and it did make the fall colors stand out. We had a good time exploring the grounds at the lodge and driving around the lake.
We also had time to explore the nearby area.
